FAQ

WHY CHOOSE A KITEROA GOLDEN?
At Kiteroa Kennels, we are proud to advance the Golden Retriever breed. This means we will do everything we can to produce sound, healthy puppies that are an excellent example of the breed. We are an ANKC-registered breeder with Dogs NSW (member #2100057394) A beautiful, confident, and happy temperament is of utmost importance to us, so our Golden Retrievers can adjust to their surroundings and be the beautiful, happy dogs the breed is so well known for. We conduct extensive health testing on our breeding dogs to give all puppies the best possible chance of a long, healthy life with their forever families.
The testing that we carry out includes:
  • Hip X-ray and scoring using the CHEDS system
  • Elbow X-ray and scoring using the CHEDS system
  • Annual eye certification using the ACES system
  • Heart auscultation by a vet

Full Breed ORIVET breed DNA panel of tests, including (but not limited to):
  • Degenerative Myelopathy
  • GR PRA 1
  • GR PRA 2
  • Ichthyosis
  • Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis (NCL)
This program produces amazingly resilient, confident, enrichment-seeking puppies that develop into well-rounded, outgoing, operant adults who are happy, socially successful, and trainable. Puppy Culture represents a gold standard in puppy rearing and early socialisation. Once the puppies begin to walk around and play with each other, we utilise Puppy Culture and Avidog protocols to give our puppies the best possible start to life. We start our puppies at 3 days old with ENS, or early Neurological Stimulation, as per Puppy Culture protocols, and continue until 17 days old.

The Adventure Box
We are always looking for fun, easy ways to develop our pups’ stability. Our Adventure Box has quickly become a favourite, particularly for early stimulation. An Adventure Box is a wonderful way to introduce baby puppies to the sights, sounds, touch and motion they will experience during their lives. Experiences like the Adventure Box may grow the size and complexity of puppies’ brains, helping them to become more confident.

By 6 weeks, puppies go on “adventure walks” around our property. They experience all kinds of surfaces, like concrete, gravel, loud corrugated iron sheets, and up-and-down embankments. They also learn recall and to follow people closely.
